Dancing in a country where everyone speaks Dutch and the music is never far away — that’s Suriname with Dance4Two. You’ll dance at a dance school in Paramaribo, party at the city’s best-known SBK spots, and swim in the rapids by the jungle village of Jaw Jaw. During the day you explore the city by bike, visit forts and plantations, and relax by the pool in between. Twelve days of dance, culture and adventure, with guidance in Dutch, English and Spanish from start to finish. A trip you won’t forget in a hurry.

Eco Torarica (Paramaribo)

You’ll spend eight nights at Eco Torarica, part of the well-known Torarica group. The hotel is 500 metres from the historic centre of Paramaribo and a 15-minute walk from Fort Zeelandia. The quiet rooms have their own bathroom, air conditioning and a garden view. There’s an outdoor pool, a garden and a restaurant serving regional dishes; breakfast is included. Dance lessons take place on the hotel terrace, and it’s a ten-minute walk to the Torarica Resort, where you can use the pool. Out exploring the city by day, dance lessons in the afternoon, Paramaribo nightlife in the evening — this hotel is the ideal base for it all.

Lodge Jaw Jaw a Tela (Upper Suriname River)

You’ll spend two nights at Jaw Jaw a Tela, a lodge in the Saramaccan Maroon village of Jaw Jaw, deep in the rainforest on the Upper Suriname River. The adventure starts on the way there: you travel into the interior by taxi and dugout canoe, alongside the local population. In the village you easily get talking to the people who live there — children on their way to school, women doing their washing in the river, and music and games on the village square in the evening. You’ll sleep simply but well, all meals are included, and the rapids lie right in front of the village. Swimming, a jungle hike with a local guide, cooking with the villagers, spotting caimans under an overwhelming night sky — this is Suriname the way few travellers experience it.

Dutch spoken? Yes!In Suriname, almost everyone speaks Dutch. You can order food, ask for directions and chat with people simply in your own language. That makes this faraway trip surprisingly familiar.

FlightsKLM flies directly from Amsterdam to Paramaribo. The flight ticket is not included in the trip price — we’re happy to help you book it, so the whole group is on the same flight.

Entry fee for SurinameFor Suriname, you arrange the entry fee online in advance, with a QR code. We’ll send you the correct link and instructions in good time.

VaccinationsVaccinations are recommended for Suriname. Contact your local health authority or a vaccination centre well before departure for personal advice.

Travel insuranceIt’s essential to take out travel and/or cancellation insurance. Also check whether your insurance provides cover outside Europe.

Money mattersIn Suriname you pay with the Surinamese dollar (SRD). Bring cash in euros; you can exchange money in Paramaribo. Card payment isn’t possible everywhere, so plan mainly on cash.

ElectricitySuriname uses a mixed system of 110/127 V and 220 V. Bring a travel adapter; a type A/B adapter is sufficient in most situations.

PhotographySuriname is a dream for your camera: colourful markets, colonial buildings, the river and the jungle. Always ask permission before photographing people, especially in the villages of the interior. Photography is prohibited at government buildings and military sites.
